Berlin 2024
We were in Berlin July 21–27.
Alan had a couple of reasonably good IPS conference days, but on the 3rd day, he tested positive for COVID. A few days later, Diane tested positive. So for a lot of our time in Berlin we isolated in our hotel room. Diane searched for and found Air Doctor on-line. The German MD did a telephone and house call visit. We did not need Paxlovid.
On a positive note, at the IPS conference Alan received the IPS Service Award, the bad news being that, having COVID, he did not attend the award ceremony.
Here's Alan standing near the Zeiss Grosse Planetarium in Berlin where he barely made it in time to lead his workshop.
Diane was able to go on a couple of tours and got some photos. Here she is in front of the Brandenburg Gate.

The trip home was grueling. And even though our infections were mild (since we'd kept up our vaccinations), we were both pretty miserable on that return trip. That has made us more reluctant than ever to go on plane trips in the future. But it IS fun to sight-see....
